The Virgo Full Moon on February 24, 2024 is the second full moon of the year at 5 degrees, the number five is reminding us of our power as creators, The five pointed star is after all the depiction of the Vitruvian woman/man, as well as the pentagram and pentagon (both understood to be symbols of creation, transformation and protection).
In numerology the number 5 symbolizes transformation: it reminds us that the only constant in the universe is change, and that we are well served to release ourselves from things that bind us, restrain us and hold us back. The difference here with the Virgo new moon is that the things that are "restraining" us are likely subconscious, as such we are receiving a cosmic wave of energy to be able to see clearly and embrace the flows of change and transformation in 2024. It is worth noting there there are a couple more full moons at 5 degrees in the future, so the lesson of embracing change is ongoing through the beginning of this year.
As such, this lunar cycle may be feeling a bit topsy turvy, as was expected and will continue to be expected through this year. Fear not. We are learning to ride a bicycle, but still need the training wheels on. If you can get into the metaphor of what that means it means we have an entire new skillset to understand right now! So, OF COURSE, our adult ego selves are going to be feeling it. Feeling it could include resistance, unbalanced, excited for now reason, tired and overwhelmed... In all cases it's a lot of energy and a big energetic shift that we are moving through. So we would be well suited to give ourselves space and time to move through this shift. This is why I suggest in the podcast that we might begin to think of the entirety of 2024 as a "Seeding Year."
In this vein, I felt the nudge to invite everyone to participate in the upcoming Lunar Herbal Alchemy Healing Circle. This is typically a private group where I host in depth gatherings twice per lunar cycle, you can join at any time by choosing a subscription here. Also, for this Full moon, the need for healing is so important, I wanted to offer it to the community and world at large :) We will gather at 11am pacific time on Saturday February 24, 2024. Simply join my email list and I will send along the link to join us live as well as the recording.
The new moon in Aquarius brings us a healthy dose of transformational visionary expansion. While any one of those three words could be considered potent, taken together transformational visionary expansion gives us the sense of how powerful the month of February and the year 2024 can be.
Let's begin with transformational. Transformation is one of the key words often associated with Pluto, along with death, birth, and manipulation. Let's start with that last word, since it's potentially the most "sticky."
Whoah, manipulation?! Ick, ugh, damn, poop... are some words that hold a similar vibration as manipulation for me as i write. None of these are words I like to use unless need be. But here, we remember that Pluto rules Scorpio, the sign known for helping us to see beneath the surface. Pluto and Scorpio both work in optimal ways to show us things that are unconscious, and they are likely to show us manipulations in our lives so that we can release them.
This brings us to the first of the three words: transformation. This helps us get a sense of the "why" for Pluto: the why IS transformation!! The how is death/rebirth. The "what" is manipulation or misuse of energy.. whether that be wasted, controlled or suppressed energy, Pluto loves to show us where the energetic wires are crossed when they should be open and free flowing.
Moving onto the second word visionary. Visionary is a word often associated with the sign of Aquarius, along with radical, freedom, unconventional and weird! I find it interesting to consider the earlier connotation to the word weird in juxtaposition to how we collectively often see the word today. In The past weird was associated with Wyrd, which was associated with things occult, magical and supernatural. Weird was a term of affirmation and upliftment in comparison to its connotations today (which are currently being reclaimed :):) weird 20 years ago was a bad thing for conventional .. those of us who have been weird for a while know that weird actually means unique and creative and free. Which brings us to the words, freedom, radical and unconventional... now we see the intended true meaning of weird!
Finally expansion. When the notions of transformation and visionary combined together we are invited and supported in expanding! Expanding not only our consciousness, but also ourselves and our energetic offerings to the world. I offer a meditation in the podcast to support us in this type of radical expansion. Radical because it IS new and needed for us to expand and shine more brightly than ever before in our lives. Now now now!

We have a beautiful full moon in the heart centered, noble, & regal sign of Leo on January 25 2024. This full moon is the first of a series of full moons with both the sun and moon opposing each other at 5 degrees of their sign, signaling that a key to working with lunar energies at the beginning of 2024 is a deeper understanding and alignment with the energetics of number 5.
In numerology the 5 energetic is independent, imaginative, unpredictable, always in motion, and constantly in search of change.
5 energy is very comfortable with change, as the ever flowing five pointed star/pentagram suggests in the form of the vitruvian woman: We are always flowing energy, we are always new, we are always invigorated and nourished as well as protected. This syncs up perfectly with the herb for this cycle of time: Sage. (I discuss this in depth in the Lunar Herbal Alchemy Circle). Sage is uplifting, invigorating as well as cleansing and protecting. It is a wisdom plant reminding us of our wisdom and knowledge in past lives and other dimensions.
It is also worthwhile to consider the alternative use of the word: a sage is someone who is a wise elder in a community. This invites and supports a deeper understanding of the ever flowing nature of the cycles of time and the universe. 5 also brings the energy of expansion, supporting us in gaining more freedom to become who and what our soul knows we are here to be: AKA SHINE BRIGHTLY! Shining our light is not only our birthright, it is at this juncture also our responsibility! To be as big and bright as we are truly meant to be!
I remind us in the podcast that on January 20th we have the Sun and Pluto conjunct followed by Pluto moving out of Capricorn and into Aquarius on the 21st. These energies are of a frequency we likely have not experienced yet in this lifetime. This is because Pluto has a 248 year orbit around our sun and only exited Capricorn and entered Aquarius around the time of 1776 to 1778. Those dates might ring a bell as they were during the time of the American and French revolutions, among many other things. I am offering a free preview event on the 21st: Pluto in Aquarius 2024 to give folks a sense of the offerings of my new lunar cycle circle: the Lunar Herbal Alchemy Circle. You can sign up for my email list to be notified about the zoom links and receive recordings here.
What is perhaps most notable about this Leo full moon is that both Luna in Leo and the sun in Aquarius are square to Jupiter in Taurus. This means we're going to have the opportunity for a few similar but also unique realizations around this time:
- Downloads and deeper understandings of our connection to everyone and everything.
These will likely come in two forms:
- New visions of our connection to higher dimensions,
- Visceral understandings (as in, in the 3d physical world) of ourselves as immensely powerful energetic and creative beings.
How do we navigate these opportunities optimally, I offer a mediation in the podcast as well as an age old Hindu mantra: Lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu
Translating loosely into: May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all. I say "loosely" because there are several ways to articulate in modern english what these words convey in Sanskrit:
lokah: location, realm, all universes existing now. (Suggesting that we can be anywhere and reminds us of the power of being present in each moment)
samastah: all beings sharing that same location. (Invoking and expands on the notions of unity consciousness, oneness, the universal field of infinite intelligence)
sukhino: centered in happiness and joy, free from suffering (Centering our focus and vibration on the feelings of freedom, love, expansion and joy.)
bhav: the divine mood or state of unified existence (Again invoking oneness, but this time in the notion of the power of the collective to create.)
antu: may it be so, it must be so (Used as an ending here transforms this mantra into a powerful pledge)
I hope that you enjoy the podcast, and if you feel called sign up for my email list and consider joining theLunar Herbal Alchemy Circle for new and full moon gatherings, as well as astrological and herbal insights and offerings throughout 2024!

Now, let's get onto the real deal; the astrology for this new moon reminds us that we live in the midst of profound shifts and changes. Pluto moving from Capricorn into Aquarius is absolutely a sign of the times. Interestingly the metaphor for how this unfolds translates well, because it's not a hard and fast stop/start; it's rather a dance, a dance of energetics. Pluto was in Capricorn from roughly 2008 until 2023/24. Pluto entered into Aquarius for the first time on March 23 2023, where it stayed into June 11 2023. It's next visit into Aquarius begins during this lunar cycle: on January 21st! Pluto will be in Aquarius this year from January 21 through September 2, from there it will dip back into Capricorn one final time September 2 - November 19, and ultimately on November 19th 2024 Pluto will fully enter into Aquarius. Pluto spends roughly 20 years in each astrological sign so it will be in Aquarius until 2043!!
We have a potent dose of Capricornian energy with this full moon: the Sun, Moon, Pluto, Ixion, Mar, Pholus & Quaoar are all in the sign of Capricorn. We also have the energetic of Mercury conjunct the Galactic Center and trine Jupiter in Taurus. I spend some time on this in the podcast so I'll skip it here. Instead focus on the things I told you I would tell you more about in the blog:

We live in transformative times. Times of death and rebirth, as this Full Moon's Ixion Activation reminds us.
If Ixion is Pluto's lawless brother, this means he is the "lawless" version of the process of death/rebirth and transformation. Depending on the higher or lower octave of Ixion's expression this death /rebirth transformation could look karmically intense and chaotic, or it could look powerful and full of clarity and light. The higher octave of Ixion points us to transcendence of traditional ways of thinking beyond linear space and time... and opens more fully the notion of an ever expanding universe, beyond linear time and space and time.. with limitless potential for all because there is more than enough for everyone.
The notion of "lawlessness" can sound a bit extreme if we look around using only the lens of the physical world. A physical world without laws would be chaotic and anarchistic as best. The lower octave of Ixion shows us that lawlessness on this level is met with karma and/or cosmic justice: Ixion, however disrespectful and self serving we may have behaved, was ultimately met with the message that a free-for-all of this kind would not be tolerated. It is actually only when we look to the higher octave of Ixion that we can understand the nature of his true power, and this is precisely why the Greek and Roman myths tend to hold hidden secrets beyond the surface level.
Let's also explore the question of why we need laws.
Q: Why do we need laws?
A: Because some part of humanity still lives in world fear and separation. At least some portion of this thought form holds that humanity is so dark and selfish that they can't be trusted and need to be controlled. There's plenty of evidence for this in the mundane world.
A: What if its time to move above and beyond the notions of fear and separation. I offer that this full moon supports us in transcending the mundane reality of laws and linear time.
The notion that we become like the 5 people we surround ourselves the most with... lead me to the opening quote for this full moon offering: What if it's not just the people, it's the everything and everywhere? This begs the need to tend to our energetic space and surroundings, and to surround ourselves with those who support us in thriving. This is the intention for the Lunar Herbal Alchemy Circle, an ongoing group with live gatherings and discussions about the topics of the cycle and season.

December brings us two powerful lunar events, the first of which is the new moon, exact on 12/12 and 3:32 pacific time. I discuss the overall astrological themes in the podcast, but wanted to spend some time here in the blog post giving more information about Quaoar and Pholus, as well as the Butterfly Effect.
Let's begin with the astronomical/astrological significance of Quaoar and Pholus.
Quaoar, discovered in 2002 is one of a collection of small, distant worlds known as Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNOs). Roughly 3000 are known. As the name suggests, TNOs are found in the outer reaches of the Solar System, beyond the orbit of planet Neptune. The largest of the TNOs are Pluto and Eris.
Pholus is conjunct Quaoar during this new moon, and together they are in a powerful trine with Mercury, the planet of communication. They support us in reaching towards the higher octave of mercury, the notion of communication beyond written and spoken words, the energetics of communication and the continual energetic offering of our vibration as a communication. While Quaoar is a TNO that is very balanced in orbit and tilt, Pholus is a centaur (closer in towards earth, centaurs are found within the orbital range of Saturn to Neptune. Centaurs are closer to us than TNOs, thus making their mark more quickly in space and time. Remember that TNOs work in subtle energy/upper dimensions, while earth and inner planets tend to work in 3d/lower dimensional energy(lower does not mean bad :)
Pholus, discovered in 1992, was the second Centaur discovered. It was due to the finding or unveiling of Pholus that the planetary class of Centaur was defined (Chiron and Phlolus were then grouped into this new class). It is worth noting that astronomical discoveries clipped along at a much more rapid pace after Pholus came into our awareness. This is consistent with the archetypal nature of Pholus, taking something seemingly nebulous, whimsical or even chaotic and quickly transforming it into something very visceral. When I say quickly, I am understating the nature of Pholus, as it works beyond space and time, so the manifestations happen just like that. Quicker and without the usual amount of time, effort and space.
Which segues nicely into the butterfly effect! The butterfly effect rests on the notion that the world is deeply interconnected, such that one small occurrence can influence a much larger complex system. The effect is named after an allegory for chaos theory; it evokes the idea that a small butterfly flapping its wings could, hypothetically, cause a typhoon. Or it could not – the mind-boggling part of the butterfly effect is that it’s virtually impossible to predict whether a small system will lead to chaotic behavior.
The term is closely associated with the work of mathematician and meteorologist Edward Norton Lorenz. (He discovered the effect when he observed runs of his weather model with initial condition data that were rounded in a seemingly inconsequential manner. A very small change in initial conditions had created a significantly different outcome.)
I offer that chaos theory is the only way modern science can truly embrace the notion of neness... because we do not yet have the tools, formulas and "big brains" capable of comprehensively understanding in 3d the notion of oneness. We cannot explain with science why quantum entanglement happens, but we can document that it does. Quantum entanglement is pointing us to oneness, it shows that time and space collapse when we send out consciousness somewhere. In a similar vein the butterfly effect reminds us that everything and anything are always possible. I offer (the nonscientific interpretation) that it is precisely because a butterfly (you) can flap its wings in the amazon (offer a proper vibration for the vibrant future) and produce a storm in europe (create the new future now) as the Butterfly Effect of this conjunction of Quaoar and Pholus with Mercury in Capricorn.
I also offer that this is the nature of the conjunction between Quaoar and Pholus on the December 12 new moon. They are both capable of bending our notions of time and space to harmoniously and magically create in the physical world. I hope that this inspires you to harness the power of our moment to moment vibration!
In the vein of harnessing the power of our vibration, I will be offering a Lunar Herbal Alchemy Circle beginning in 2024. This will include new and full moon gatherings as well as other significant events. You have the option to dive deeper using hers, and or personalized sessions. You can choose the things that feel good and supportive to you!
November 27th brings an energetically pivotal full moon. For those who are on a healing uplifting path of service and oneness, the pivot will not only be easy, it has the potential to bring good fortune through January. For those on a path of fear and separation, that pivot might feel challenging. I discuss how the energetics highlight a need for us to deeply rely on our own energetic sense of things.. our own intuitive understanding of the truth, our ability to see beyond the mundane when needed, so that we can serve and be prosperous in our service.
The good news is "service" as I understand it is actually quite easy. It asks us to simply be and stay connected to the whole and willing to do what resonates for the collective. By doing that, the good karma flows tremendously. This is the message of this new moon, and by now you can probably feel the dissonance of this message with what we are taught in the modern world: to march along, fear, horde and separate. It is worth noting that all of this is MOTIVATED BY FEAR OF NOT HAVING ENOUGH. This full moon will likely bring some realizations around these themes, also good fortune in the ways that we are willing to consider ourselves as part of a universal consciousness and collective ecology.
In the podcast I say something along the lines of:
"With these energies we are potentially lucky/fortunate to be able to understand complexities.. things that would bring others to shut down in fear are somehow interesting, Interesting in that we can see that we are blessed with the ability to realize that the fear is not the answer .. that there is more to be understood."
I wanted to spend a little bit of time in the blog unpacking the need for boundaries and offering a new understanding of them. First, we live in a chaotic world, (on a few or many levels, depending on how you view things) and this chaos necessitates the need to not get taken over, the need for us to recognize how we feel and to take ownership of our understandings via healthy boundaries.
This is where I find that things are interesting right now with the Neptune Pars Fortunae conjunction in Pisces: we are being told/invited to remember to rely on ourselves and our intuition for an understanding of what is true. SO, in the past boundaries may have been things that are hard and fast, if we look to the modern Webster definition of boundary: "something that indicates or fixes a limit or extent."
I offer in this podcast and with this full moon that we are supported in remembering that we should trust our intuition for day to day and moment to moment understandings of "boundaries" .. that this sense of boundaries is part of our sovereignty and divinity. Noone but you can choose what is true. Own that. Receive power from that.
Join us in January 2024 for the Lunar Herbal Alchemy Collective.
Blessings to you,
We have a new moon in the secretive, passionate sign of Scorpio, supporting us in remembering the truths beneath the surface. Interestingly (also ironically?) these are truths that are likely also in plain sight, right in front of us to remember. One of these truths is that we are inextricably connected to everything in our world. The other is that we can look to sacred geometry for a deeper understanding of how and why this is the case. In my own experience with sacred geometry, it is less about the mathematical proofs (although I am grateful for those who did the legwork to give our modern minds scientific/mathematical "proof"), instead it is more about the visualization of "how" and "why" all things might be interconnected.
One of my favorite authors on the topic of sacred geometry is James Ross Godbe, author of Still Point: The Geometry of Consciousness. James speaks of sacred geometry in mathematical terms, but he also offers stunning visualizations that connect the vector equilibrium, the vesica piscis, the great pyramid in Egypt, with the flower of life.. and then also to the size orbit and orientation of the sun, moon and earth. His body of work is impressive to say the least! I recommend checking out his book if you have the inclination. FOr now, I want to share James' words about the nature of the flower of life:
"There is a primal geometry that is the blueprint of all that Is. It is called the Stillpoint...Vector Equilibrium or Flower of Life. 12 points around 1... all vectors or distances between points being equal. It is the primal geometry that defines a still... point... that doesn’t exist. It is, scientifically speaking, Fundamental to the genesis of the Universe. Just as consciousness itself, it is basic, inherent, and essential to the genesis of our Universe, the Stillpoint geometry is the Geometry of Consciousness."
For our purposes with this new moon, a deeper understanding of how and why the planets and other celestial bodies move and are connected support us in receiving the downloads from them when they magically appear in an astrology chart. With this new moon we have Ceres, Mars, the Moon, and the Sun in a fairly tight conjunction. Conjunctions are simply a combination and emphasis of the energies involved. Depending on the planets and other bodies involved they can be flowing or challenging.
I offer in the podcast that they are here to support us in being activated, uplifted into flowing versus challenging energetics. I also invited us to look at the experiences and events in our lives around this time and theme using the lens that if there are challenges, to "flow" with them and take them as signs that there is a simpler or higher vibration way to seeing or doing things.
The link between Ceres, Demeter and Shakti is also fundamental to feel into. We know of Ceres as the Greek counterpart to Roman Demeter, both commonly known as goddess of the harvest, fertility, womanhood. We may not know that this goddess also presided over the sacred law, the cycle of life and death, she was goddess of the seasons. When we remember and rediscover that Demeter literally means “Earth Mother” we begin to scratch the surface of her true significance and power. We can also look to the symbol used to represent Ceres for more clues, you can find the symbol at right. In Vedic Astrology, this glyph represents The Great Divine Mother in Hinduism. The Great Divine Mother was also known as Shakti, the divine feminine counterpart to divine masculine God Shiva. Shakti "means “power, strength, might, energy, or capacity.” To my understanding, Shakti is a fundamental concept within the Hindu Tradition. It represents the divine feminine, and is typically associated with the mother goddess. According to the Hindu tradition, Shakti is responsible for the universe's creation, maintenance, and destruction.
Lilith and Juno make an appearance as they trine and sextile the moon and sun, making for fortuitous opportunities for us to re-boot (as that is what eclipse typically offer) and reembody divine feminine harmoniously. While I take us through their myths and offer a possible revisioning in the podcast, I wanted to take space here in the blog post to highlight the notion that we may not know, or we may need to use our own inner vision and understandings for what their message and story truly is.
I mention that Lilith was written about in Jewish foklore legends as a women who upon fleeing the garden of Eden after being raped by Adam, copulated with demons. This is just one of many older writings we can find about her today; she is written about Babylonian texts, where she is depicted as a winged demon. These understandings subsequently spread from Babylonia to different cultures in ancient Anatolia, Syria, Greece, Egypt and Israel. Thus, it is not just a "Jewish" understanding, hardly at all. The fact that she's not even mentioned in the modern bible is also pointing us to a deeper truth about the convenience of taking away the power of powerful women by demonizing them.
The story of Juno and Hera has a similar thread to it, although Juno/Hera end up taking out all of their frustrations for an unhealthy marriage on others by being angry, crazy, spiteful, wrathful, and mean. I find it interesting that as we are on this journey to reharmonize the masculine and feminine with each of us, in order to restore it in the collective, that these two are activated during this eclipse. I offer that this is a communication of sorts, a reminder to us of where we've been as well as a reminder to us that we are creating our future today!
This lunar eclipse is exceptionally intense as it not only comes two weeks after the Ring of Fire Solar Eclipse, but it touches one last time on the Scorpio/Taurus eclipse axis. The Sun in Scorpio invites us to look within for what may be beneath the surface as our own inner truths, while Luna in Taurus reminds us that we need to cultivate a deeper sense of grounding, and personal empowerment. The alignment with Lilith and Juno highlight the need for releasing old versions of feminine power lurking in the collective consciousness. This full moon has the opportunity to illuminate for us how we are subconsciously running old/outdated programming that was put into the collective as a mechanism for domination over the divine feminine.
