On May 5 we have not only a Full Moon in Scorpio but also Lunar Eclipse. This eclipse will begin at 8:15am pacific time and will be visible from anywhere on the globe where the moon is over the horizon, including Antarctica, Asia, Russia, Oceania and Eastern and Central Africa. The energies will peak at 10:23 am pacific time and will end at 12:32pm (same time zone) when the moon emerges from the Earth's shadow. While this eclipse will not be visible at all from North America, South America or most of Europe (as the moon will be below the horizon for the entire time Earth is in the shadow of the moon) the energies will be present and available for all of us. While it is often said that the energies will be strongest in the places where an eclipse can be seen by human eyes, it is also the case that energies exist above and beyond linear time and 3d space, so they will be equally present for you at that time as well as when you listed and find this!
Lunar eclipses occur as a result of Earth passing between the moon and the sun with the three bodies in a straight line. This results in the shadow of our planet falling on the moon's face as Earth blocks the light from the sun. This can lead to events that, unlike solar eclipses, can be full of subtle energy as well as energy from higher dimensions. ![]()
It just so happens that at the time for this eclipse, Sirius is aspecting 3 of 9 planets. Sirius is a fixed star at 13 degrees of cancer and in my experience tends to show up in astrological charts at uncanny and significant times. I discuss the energetics of 13 degrees of Cancer inthe podcast, but I don't dig into the nature of Sirius in astrology (at least in my own personal experience of looking at charts for individuals as well as events.) Sirius tends to show up during times of birthing/rebirthing, transition, and transformation. The last time Sirius appeared significantly in my understanding was January 6, 2023, the first full moon of this year/last full moon of 2022 when Sirius was conjunct Luna in Cancer. Conjunctions are times when, as it sounds, two plants are at the same degree of the zodiac or quite close to each other. Some astrologers say 6 degrees, others 4 degrees, I use the latter. Conjunctions are considered "positive" aspects, as the energies of each star/planet/asteroid are united, however conjunctions can also be intense as sometimes the respective stars/planets/asteroids and the signs that they are in don't quite want to be roommates or best friends. Conjunctions are intense and definitely positive when celestial bodies are in harmony. Sirius and Luna were absolutely in harmony to close our most recent solar year and bless the beginnings of 2023.
With this full moon on May 5th, aslo a lunar eclipse, we have Sirius aspecting three celestial bodies. Sirius is trine the Moon, square to Chiron, and sextile to the Sun. I discuss the energetics of this in the podcast, but I want to share here that I sense it is fairly significant that Sirius is showing up to positively aspect and flow energy during this eclipse. The Sun sextile Sirius is a 60 degree aspect that is a very easy and sweet astrological aspect. The Sun and Sirius are two zodiac signs apart — meaning that they’ll be in highly compatible elements. Sun in Taurus is earth energy, Sirius in Cancer is water energy. While Fire and air empower one another, earth and water support each other, air and earth ground and expand together. The planetary energy flows softly and tends to bring support, camaraderie and opportunities. However, there is a need to consciously choose to use the planetary support because while you will be presented with opportunities and information, you need to see them and take action. Luna trine Sirius is a 120 degree aspect that speaks of and invites us to attune to synchronicity. This is because the Moon and Sirius are sharing the same element of water. Cancer, Scorpio are both associated with the element water. Because of this, celestial bodies with the trine aspect are working toward the same agenda and want the same outcome. ![]()
