We have a new moon in Scorpio on November 1st 2024. During this new moon, and this entire lunar cycle, we are fortunate to have a powerful divine feminine goddess and force of nature coming through to support us in times of transformation: Goddess and Dwarf Planet Eris. The discovery of Eris in 2005 sparked a revolution in our understanding of the solar system. Eris' discovery caused Pluto to be switched in classification from planet to dwarf planet in our solar system. Beyond her own status as a dwarf planet, Eris has taken on a symbolic meaning that resonates deeply with feminist ideologies. Named after the Greek goddess often associated with discord and strife, Eris embodies the complexity of feminine power—an archetype that challenges traditional narratives and invites us to explore themes of strength, defiance of overinflated ego, and social justice. In Greek mythology, Eris was much more than a figure of chaos, she was and is a catalyst for change. Her involvement in the events leading to the Trojan War highlights her role in exposing the superficiality of beauty and the pitfalls of envy. The infamous "Golden Apple" incident, where she tossed an apple inscribed "to the fairest," sparked jealousy among the goddesses and set off a chain reaction of conflict. This myth serves as a reminder that discord can lead to significant transformations, echoing the feminist belief that challenging the status quo often creates space for new narratives and perspectives. Eris, the dwarf planet, exists on the fringes of our solar system, much like the marginalized voices in society. Its discovery prompted a reevaluation of what constitutes a planet, challenging established norms and prompting the reclassification of Pluto. This parallel can be drawn to the return of the divine feminine, where the quest for equality often requires rethinking definitions and dismantling long-standing structures. Just as Eris defied expectations, the return of the divine feminine continues to push outdated boundaries, asserting that all voices, particularly those of women and marginalized groups, deserve to be heard. In a world that in the past has been dominated by patriarchal narratives, Eris represents the complexity of female experience—embracing both strength and vulnerability. The divine feminine reminds us that women and men are not monolithic; like Eris, the divine feminine embodies a spectrum of qualities that can disrupt and redefine societal norms. Eris's very existence challenges the notion that femininity is synonymous with passivity. Instead, she exemplifies how discord can serve as a powerful force for change. Feminism celebrates this disruption, urging society to question injustices and strive for equity. Eris reminds us that sometimes, conflict is necessary to break down barriers and create a more inclusive world. Eris, both as a dwarf planet and a mythological figure, serves as a powerful symbol of truth and transformation. Her narrative encourages us to embrace discord not as something to be feared, but as a vital force for transformation. Just as Eris reshaped our understanding of celestial bodies, the return of the divine feminine continues to reshape societal norms, advocating for a world where all voices are valued. In recognizing and receiving the energy and wisdom of Eris, we empower ourselves to embrace the messy, beautiful struggle for equality and justice. As we move through this next lunar cycle, let us not forget the lessons of Eris—an emblem of feminine strength that inspires us to question, challenge, and create a more equitable future. Let us also sow the seeds of unity and positive change of everyone and everything on our planet. I am thrilled to offer the second iteration of the Reciprocity Challenge in sync with this new moon.
